03/09/10: A New Member of The Albion Wiki Team.

To help out with updates for the next few weeks, we’ve added a new member of The Albion Wiki team; Shantihx3. Remember, our team are STILL going through ALL our pages, improving the content, adding new references, making sure all the references we currently have work, and keeping everything up-to-date. This is a huge job, but something that will make an amazing improvement to the site. If you have any spare time to contribute to The Albion Wiki and would be interested in joining our team, please contact me for more info on jamiedickens@gmail.com.

Also we are still asking all users who attended either of The Libertines Forum gigs or The Libertines at Leeds & Reading festivals to send in their reviews to be added to our website. As I’m sure many users that cannot attend the gigs are eager for information, all reviews of the gig will be added on the website, in everyone’s interests. You can either create a page for your own review (titled something like: The Libertines Leeds Festival Review “Admin” 27/08/2010) or you can send reviews to jamiedickens@gmail.com and they’ll be added. ALL work is very much appreciated no matter how small a review.

22/08/10: One Year and Eight Months!

Please accept my apologies for the lack of updates on the site over the past couple of months; although I can’t explain it further, real life events have taken priority over The Albion Wiki, and they will do for the foreseeable future. Therefore, we are currently asking for new Wiki staff who’re free to update the site in their spare time. To find out more information or to volunteer your help, please email me on jamiedickens@gmail.com.

Despite lack of official updates, the site has continued to grow over the past two months, and here are our official statistics:
- Between 21st June and 21st of July, the website had 37,000 views.
- Between 21st of July and 21st of August, the website had 43,000 views, taking the total to 700,000 in just 20 months: an average of 35,000 a month.
- In the past two months, we’ve had 200 pages edited, taking our total to 7,759 in just 20 months.
- Our total amount of pages in the database now stands at 1,148; quite impressive as we first opened with under 400.

And our plans for the future include:
- As already mentioned, updating the site is now going to happen less often and because of this, our “Articles you may be interested in...” section will only be updated once a month; this will give us more time to focus on the actual pages themselves.
- As mentioned in our 18 month update, we’re currently going through ALL our pages, improving the content, adding new references, making sure all the references we currently have work, and keeping everything up-to-date. This will continue throughout the year, and many pages have already been improved.
- For the first time on The Albion Wiki, we are asking all users attending The Libertines Forum gig or The Libertines at Leeds & Reading festivals to send in their reviews to be added to our website. As I’m sure many users that cannot attend the gigs are eager for information, all reviews of the gig will be added on the website. You can either create a page for your own review (titled something like: The Libertines Leeds Festival Review “Admin” 27/08/2010) or you can send reviews to jamiedickens@gmail.com and they’ll be added. ALL work is very much appreciated no matter how small a review.

I hope those seeing The Libertines this month have a great experience, thanks (as ever) to everyone visiting The Albion Wiki for their custom to the site, and remember to keep checking back for some great updates,

Jamie

22/06/10: One Year and Six Months!

Yesterday marked the one year and six month anniversary of the grand opening of The Albion Wiki, and here’s what we’re doing to celebrate:

- We’re currently going through ALL our pages, improving the content, adding new references, making sure all the references we currently have work, and keeping everything up-to-date.

- We’re also going through ALL our interview pages making sure any links to sources still work, adding scans of the original interview if available, and making sure all interviews include internal links.

Obviously, with there being thousands of pages on The Albion Wiki, it might take a while to go through each one, but to see what we’ve been up to so far, check out pages related to members of The Libertines, their albums, singles and their interviews; a few pages we’ve been working on over the past couple of weeks.

As far as statistics go, this month we’ve had 42,000 people pages viewed (bringing our total number of pages viewed to 620,000 in just one and a half years), around 150 pages edited (taking our total number of pages edited to 7,563) and we now have 1,137 pages in our database.

We’ll keep you up-to-date on the progress of improving all our information on “The ultimate encyclopedia for The Libertines”. Thanks to everyone for their custom to the site over the past year and a half, and keep checking back!

31/5/10: 12 Bar concert audio removed.

Users may have noticed all video and audio links have been removed from both The Libertines Live @ 12 Bar Club page and the hosts that were hosting the material, due to copyright claims from the owner. Users yet to see the footage are encouraged to purchase the DVD here, it really is amazing stuff.

Cheers,
Jamie

25/5/2010: 17 months on...

This past weekend marked the 17 month anniversary since The Albion Wiki opened, and we’ve produced some amazing statistics so far! This month we’ve had a total of 43,000 pages visited (bringing the total to 578,000 in just 17 months), we now have over 1,130 pages in our database and this month has seen 150 pages edited, bringing our total number of edits to 7,427. Thanks to everyone who has been part of the website so far! Another thank you to everyone who entered the competition to win a copy of new Roses Kings Castles material last month, and congratulations to our winners, Dasiy Owens and James Whyman.

As you may know, we’re playing host to a copy of the audio from The Libertines Live @ 12 Bar Club in 2001, here. Although the links were temporarily down over the weekend, I’m happy to report that there are now new download links for everyone who’s yet to hear the gig; it really is amazing stuff. The video links have also, unfortunately, been removed by YouTube, and I urge anyone with a copy of the material to email it me and I’ll host it on the site; it really is a must see for all Libertines fans and such a shame YouTube have removed it whilst continuing to host millions of other, higher quality, much less rare and properly copyrighted bootlegs of other bands.

That’s it for this month’s round-up, and we’ll be working hard behind the scenes all month to make sure the one and ½ year update is a good one, so check back on 21st of June!

21/04/10: Our 16 month anniversary!

Roses Kings Castles Month draws to a close today; our 16 month anniversary, and what an amazing month it’s been. This month we’ve had 50,000 pages viewed (taking our total number of pages viewed to 535,000), 50 new pages created (meaning we now have 1,120 different pages in our database; not bad to say we started with under 400) and we’ve had almost 600 pages edited since this time last month, which brings the total to 7,280 pages edited in 16 months. Thanks to everyone who’s been visiting and editing the site over the past month to help achieve such figures!

To celebrate these amazing figures, the return of Albion Arks (in case you haven’t heard, our parent site is back!), the return of The Libertines and the success of Roses Kings Castles Month, we’re holding a free entry competition between now and 2nd May. This only gives you 11 days to be entering, so click here to go check it out NOW! Good Luck!

11/04/10: The final week of Roses Kings Castles Month.

As Roses Kings Castles Month runs from 21st March – 21st April, this coming week will be the last. So far we’ve had loads of pages about RKC improved and even more new pages created, and 10 new suggestions for pages we need creating are available here, if you want to take part. In case you’re only here to read and not help with the site, 10 brand new Roses Kings Castles-related pages have been added to the “Articles you may be interested in...” section, including a recent interview with Adam Ficek where he talks about his new single, new album and The Libertines reunion! Remember to keep checking the site, as we’ll soon be announcing the details of our free entry competition, as a reward for reaching our 500,000th pageview.
