09/03/10: More new articles and update on the main Albion Arks site!

Once again, remember to check out the “Articles you may be interested in...” section for 10 brand new pages to keep you entertained; we’ll be continuing to create plenty of new pages between now and 21st March, so do keep checking back! Also, remember if we get half a million page views before 21st April, we’ll be holding another free entry competition, so keep checking back and keep recommending the site; we’ve only 25,000 more views to go!

Finally, I’m happy to say I’ve had confirmation that work has started on the main Albion Arks site to bring it back from the dead, along with some new updates. I can’t give any more than that away for now, but as soon as we know more, it’ll be posted!

02/03/10: New articles, anyone?

Check out the “Articles you may be interested in...” section for 10 brand new pages for you to read. As promised, we’ll be continuing to create new pages between now and 21st March, so do keep checking back! Also, remember if we get half a million page views before 21st April, we’ll be holding another free entry competition, so keep checking back and keep recommending the site; we’ve only 38,000 more views to go!

22/02/10: One year and two month update!

Again, it’s been a slow one over the past month, with not too many new features to report on. Now that we’re all refreshed from the big December update, however, read on to see what we’re planning with the site!

First off, a look back at the statistics for the last month: we’ve had 49,000 pages viewed (our second highest amount, only beaten by our first ever month), 200 pages edited and over 20 new pages added into our database...

..And from now until 21st March, we’ll be visiting the ‘pages we need’ section, aiming to create as many new pages as possible, to bring you plenty of new content. Remember, anyone can edit our site, so if you’d like to help out by creating a page, see our guide on how to do so, here. Also, because the views are so high this month and we’d really like to carry this on, there will be another free entry competition if we can reach half a million page views between now and our ‘one year and four month update’ on 21st April 2010. Every page you view counts towards the page count, and because we’ll be working on adding loads of new pages all month, you’ll find plenty to read. Remember to recommend the site to help us reach that 500,000th pageview.

22/01/10: One Year and One Month

Yesterday, we had our 1,000th article (Bonjour Tristesse) created, and also our 401,000th page visit. As we’ve only been open for 13 months, those are some really impressive figures; thanks to everyone who’s visited or contributed in the past.

Because we’ve been recovering from the birthday update, January has been a relatively quiet month on the site. We have, however, had a new member of The Albion Wiki team (Ardiweezybaby), who is going to help update the site throughout the next few months, and we really have got some great ideas, so keep checking back!

05/01/10: New Member of The Albion Wiki

To help out with updates throughout the new year, The Albion Wiki has a new member of our team, Ardiweezybaby. We've got plenty of new features and updates coming throughout 2010, so remember to keep checking back!

Hope everyone had a nice new year,

Jamie.

25/12/09: Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas from The Albion Wiki!

21/12/09: We’re 1 year old!

Exactly 1 year ago today, The Albion Wiki first opened its doors to the general public, hosting 375 basic articles. We’ve certainly come a long way in 1 year; we now have 977 articles that include information, lists of versions of tracks (and where they can be downloaded), track lists, lyrics, tabs, lists of release dates, artwork, related interviews, related reviews, related articles and more! In the year we’ve been open, 354,000 pages have been viewed and 6,450 pages have been edited! I’d like to thank everyone who has contributed towards the website in the past year, it’s really become brilliant!

So, what have we been up to in the run-up to our first birthday? Read on:

1. Almost 40 new interviews, reviews and articles have been added to the site; plenty of new reading material!

2. Hundreds of missing pieces of artwork have been added to the site. Almost every official release now has a link to the front cover, back cover, any alternative artwork, and the disk image. In addition to this, we now host the artwork for promo covers, promo posters, 7” images and album inlays. Check out our artwork pages (The Libertines, Babyshambles, Dirty Pretty Things, Yeti, Doherty) to see loads of new artwork.

3. As promised, ALL pages that could use references now have them! For example, if you have a look at our page for Peter Wolfe, you’ll notice there are numbers in brackets (like this: [1]) all over the page. These are links to other websites (like news sites or official websites) that prove and back-up the points in the article.

4. Over the past couple of weeks we’ve held a free entry competition (open to ALL the sites users) with some amazing prizes. Congratulations to Katie Drinkwater for winning, and thanks to everyone who entered! We'll be running other competitions next year, so keep an eye out!

5. All the websites official (boring) pages, like our privacy policy and disclaimer are now up-to-date. Hurrah!

And we’ve still got plenty to be getting on with in the next few months. In fact, we’re looking for new moderators to help out with the site, part time. Anyone interested can contact me on jamiedickens[at]gmail[dot]com.

Have a great Christmas and New Year, and thanks again to everyone who’s contributed/visited the site over the past year,
Jamie.

18/12/09: Competition Over!

Congratulations to Katie Drinkwater, winner of our December 2009 Competition, and thanks to everyone who entered! We'll be running other competitions next year, so keep an eye out!

07/12/09: FREE entry competition during December!

With Christmas, New Year, the one year anniversary of The Albion Wiki, and the eighth anniversary of The Libertines signing to Rough Trade, we’ve got a lot to celebrate in December! That’s why we’re having a free entry competition on The Albion Wiki, with over £20’s worth of prizes to be won, including albums, singles and DVDs. For more info, see this page, and Good Luck!

24/10/09: 10 Month Update.

For those who were unaware, The Albion Wiki was down on 21st October, due to our host, Albion Arks, moving server. Sorry about this downtime, and rest assured it isn't (and won't become) a common occurrence.

Over the last month, we've had 22,000 pages viewed (only 500 less than our target for the month, but this can be explained by our day of downtime) and 300 pages edited (bringing our total edits since December 2008 to 5,600). Thanks to everyone for visiting and editing the site, and feedback is always welcome.

Again, as it gets closer and closer to our one year anniversary, it means that there's going to be plenty of work to do for a big birthday update. Unfortunately, the festive season is also approaching, meaning that I won't have as much time to work on the site. Therefore, The Albion Wiki is looking for new moderators to help out with the site over the next few months. A basic understanding of how the editing wiki is needed, but it only takes a few seconds to learn, by viewing This Page. Anyone who has a couple of spare hours each week to help out should email me at jamiedickens[at]gmail[dot]com

Thanks,
Jamie.
