[edit] Info:

The Whitechapel Demonstrations are a set of demo tracks, recorded by Peter Doherty in early 2004, when he was still part of The Libertines[1]. The MP3 tags say that the session was recorded by "Babyshambles", however only Doherty features on the recordings[2]. The demos are quite lo-fi, containing talking over certain songs, and background noises, such as sirens and mobile phones ringing[3], meaning that they were recorded in someone’s home, rather than a recording studio.

This session features a cover version of the "Only Ones" track, Another Girl, Another Planet, that was first released in 1978. It also features acoustic versions of early Libertines songs, such as Smashing and Anything But Love that were only ever recorded as demos, and never actually released by The Libertines. When Andrew Kendall uploaded the content of Doherty's "My Music" folder, in April 2006, it contained a folder called "Unknown Album (06-04-2004 16-47-45)", and inside this were part of The Whitechapel Demonstrations. Included in this version were three previously unheard tracks, dubbed by fans as "Random old Jazz”, “Unknown" and "More Random old Jazz".
